Calculation of CO2 accounts

That's why calculating CO2 accounting is so important

Calculating a company's CO2 emissions can be a complex and time-consuming task. Data on CO2 emissions usually has to be extracted from multiple systems, emission factors have to be collected and reporting has to meet the requirements of both the EU and customers. At the same time, companies are increasingly faced with the requirement to document their climate impact - either as part of legislation or because customers, stakeholders or banks expect transparency. Solid carbon accounting is therefore no longer a voluntary effort, but a necessity for very many companies. A necessity that can feel like a daunting task to embark on.

The carbon accounting should map the company's total carbon emissions

A carbon accounting is an overview of CO2 emissions throughout the company's value chain. To give a true picture of the company's climate impact, emissions are usually divided into three categories - also known as scopes.

01

Scope 1

Scope 1 includes the company's direct emissions, e.g. from its own vehicles, machinery or production facilities.

Step 1
02

Scope 2

Scope 2 is the indirect CO2 emissions. This includes, for example, the consumption of electricity and heat, such as power from the electricity grid or district heating.

Step 1
03

Scope 3

Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions from the company's value chain, such as procurement of goods, transport, travel costs and so on.
